Edward Bernays: The Guy Who Invented You Being Manipulated

So there's this guy named Edward Bernays. Sigmund Freud's nephew. Which already feels like a red flag. He figured out that if you understand what people are afraid of and what they want, you can basically get them to do anything. And then he did. For like fifty years. He got an entire generation of women to start smoking by hiring models to light up cigarettes during a parade and calling them "torches of freedom." He helped overthrow a democratically elected government in Guatemala because a fruit company asked him to. A fruit company. He wrote a book literally called Propaganda and then rebranded the entire concept as "public relations" because even he knew the word propaganda was a tough sell. This man is the reason your toothpaste tastes like mint. That's not a joke. Look it up. If you've ever wondered why you want things you don't need and believe things nobody told you to believe, this is the guy who built that system. And nobody knows his name. Welcome to the show.

About the Show

I'm a Marine Corps veteran who went down a research rabbit hole at 2 AM and never came back. What I found wasn't conspiracy theories or fringe speculation. It was declassified government documents, congressional hearing transcripts, and publicly available records that read like bad fiction.

The government admitted to dosing citizens with LSD. They put journalists on the CIA payroll. They manufactured justification for a war that killed 58,000 Americans. And somehow we all just went "huh, that's crazy" and moved on.

This podcast is me not moving on. But instead of getting angry about it, I figured we might as well laugh. Because the facts are so absurd, the comedy writes itself.

Every claim on this show is documented and sourced. Every episode comes with receipts. I'm not here to tell you what to think. I'm here to show you what happened and let you react the same way I did, which was mostly just staring at my screen going "are you serious right now?"

This is not a political show. This is not a conspiracy show. This is a show about documented facts that are somehow funnier and more disturbing than anything anyone could make up.
